The Secretary of State for Wales, being satisfied as respects each district mentioned in Article 2 of this Order that it includes the whole of an inner urban area in which special social need exists, and that the conditions giving rise to the existence of that need could be alleviated by the exercise of the powers conferred by the Inner Urban Areas Act 1978,(1) in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 1(1) and 15 of that Act, and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:-
1. This Order may be cited as the Inner Urban Areas (Designated Districts) (Wales) Order 1987 and shall come into force on 3rd March 1987.
2. The districts of Ogwr and Rhymney Valley are hereby specified as designated districts for the purposes of the Inner Urban Areas Act 1978.

This Order designates two further districts for the purposes of the Inner Urban Areas Act 1978.
Districts may be designated under this Act by the Secretary of State if he is satisfied that they include an inner urban area in which a social need exists and the conditions giving rise to that need may be alleviated by the use of the powers afforded by the Act. These powers enable the district and county council to make grants and loans for a variety of purposes.
