Whereas the Scheme set out in the Schedule to this Order has been settled and approved in accordance with the provisions of the Schedule to the Channel Islands (Church Legislation) Measure 1931(1) and there has been due compliance with the procedure required by those provisions:
Now, therefore, Her Majesty, in pursuance of paragraph 5 of the Schedule to that Measure of 1931 and section 7(3) of the Church of England (Worship and Doctrine) Measure 1974, is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:-
1. This Order may be cited as the Church of England (Worship and Doctrine) Measure 1974 (Channel Islands) Order 1984 and shall come into operation on 30th November 1984.
2. The Scheme set out in the Schedule to this Order is hereby confirmed and it is hereby directed that the Church of England (Worship and Doctrine) Measure 1974 shall apply to the Channel Islands in accordance with that Scheme.

A SCHEME
Prepared by the Bishop of Winchester in pursuance of the Channel Islands (Church Legislation) Measures 1931 and 1957 for applying the Church of England (Worship and Doctrine) Measure 1974 to the Channel Islands.
PREAMBLE
Whereas by section 7(3) of the Church of England (Worship and Doctrine) Measure 1974 it is provided that that Measure may be applied to the Channel Islands as defined in the Channel Islands (Church Legislation) Measures 1931 and 1957 in accordance with the provisions of those Measures:
And Whereas the Bishop of Winchester has come to the conclusion that the Church of England (Worship and Doctrine) Measure 1974 ought to be applied, with certain variations, to the Channel Islands and has in accordance with the provisions of paragraphs 1, 2 and 3 of the Schedule to the Channel Islands (Church Legislation) Measure 1931 prepared the following Scheme for that purpose:
SCHEME
Any reference in this Scheme to the Islands shall have the same meaning as has such a reference in the Channel Islands (Church Legislation) Measure 1931.
The Church of England (Worship and Doctrine) Measure 1974 shall apply to the Islands subject to the following variations, that is to say:-
Notwithstanding any provision made by or in pursuance of the Measure, it shall be lawful to conduct services in any church in the French language on such occasions as, in the opinion of the incumbent, it has become traditional so to do.
For paragraph (a) of sub-section (3) of section 1 of the Measure there shall be substituted the following paragraph-
"(a)that decisions as to which of the forms of service authorised by or approved under Canon are to be used in any church shall be taken by the incumbent together with the Churchwardens, and such other officers as are lawfully appointed."
This Order extends to the Channel Islands the Church of England (Worship and Doctrine) Measure 1974, subject to the variations contained in the Scheme, settled by the Bishop of Winchester, which is set out in the Schedule to the Order.
