In exercise of the powers conferred on them respectively by section 1(1)(c) and section 1(2)(c) of the Litigants in Person (Costs and Expenses) Act 1975, the Lord Chancellor (in relation to England and Wales) and the Lord Advocate (in relation to Scotland) hereby make the following Order:-
1. This Order may be cited as the Litigants in Person (Costs and Expenses) Order 1980 and shall come into operation on 1st September 1980.
2. In this Order, "the Act" means
3. The Employment Appeal Tribunal shall be a tribunal specified for the purposes of section 1(1)(c) of the Act (in respect of proceedings in England and Wales) and section 1(2)(c) of the Act (in respect of proceedings in Scotland).
4. For the purposes of this Order, the expression "rules of court" in section 1(4)(c) of the Act

This Order applies to proceedings in the Employment Appeal Tribunal and the provisions of the Litigants in Person (Costs and Expenses) Act 1975, so as to enable an award of costs (in Scotland, expenses) made by the Tribunal to a litigant in person (in Scotland, a party litigant) to include the same items of costs or expenses as a represented litigant can claim, including in particular, costs or expenses for time spent preparing the case.
