Whereas a draft of this Order has been laid before Parliament and has been approved by a resolution of each House of Parliament in accordance with section 1(4) of the Hovercraft Act 1968:
Now, therefore, Her Majesty, in exercise of the powers conferred upon Her by section 1(1)(h) and section 1(3)(g) of the Hovercraft Act 1968, and of all other powers enabling Her in that behalf, is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:-
1. This Order may be cited as the Hovercraft (Application of Enactments) (Amendment) Order 1979, and shall come into operation fourteen days after the date of making.
2. The Hovercraft (Application of Enactments) Order 1972 shall be amended by inserting in the columns in Part A of Schedule 1 thereto (application to hovercraft of certain enactments relating to vessels)-
(a)after the entry relating to section 76 of the Public Health Act 1961 the following:-
"The Transport Act 1962, section 67(2) | 1962 c. 46 | -"; |
(b)after the entry relating to the Firearms Act 1968 the following:-
"The Transport Act 1968, Schedule 16, paragraph 4(5) | 1968 c. 73. | -". |

This Order amends the Hovercraft (Application of Enactments) Order 1972 by adding to Schedule 1 thereto a reference to section 67(2) of the Transport Act 1962 and to paragraph 4(5) of Schedule 16 to the Transport Act 1968, thus extending to hovercraft operated by the British Railways Board the power of that Board to make bylaws relating to ships operated by them or by their subsidiaries.
