Whereas a draft of this Order has been laid before Parliament in accordance with section 1 of the European Communities Act 1972 and has been approved by a resolution of each House of Parliament:
Now, therefore, Her Majesty, by virtue and in exercise of the powers conferred on Her by section 1(3) of the European Communities Act 1972 or otherwise in Her Majesty vested, is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:-
1. This Order may be cited as the European Communities (Definition of Treaties) Order 1975. It shall come into operation in respect of each treaty specified in Part I of the Schedule to this Order on the date on which the Order is made. In respect of each treaty specified in Part II of the Schedule to this Order, the Order shall come into operation on the date on which the treaty enters into force for the United Kingdom, which date will be notified in the London, Edinburgh and Belfast Gazettes.
2. The Interpretation Act 1889 shall apply for the interpretation of this Order as it applies for the interpretation of an Act of Parliament.
3. The treaties specified in the Schedule to this Order are to be regarded as Community Treaties as defined in section 1(2) of the European Communities Act 1972.

1. Decision of OJ1974L313(55) 7 November 1974 of the Representatives of the Governments of the Member States of the European Coal and Steel Community, meeting within the council, establishing supervision of imports of certain products orginating in Austria.
2. Decision of OJ1974L313(57) 7 November 1974 of the Representatives of the Governments of the Member States of the European Coal and Steel Community, meeting within the Council, establishing supervision of imports of certain products originating in Sweden.
3. Agreement in the form of an Exchange of Letters renewing the Agreement on Trade and Technical Co-operation between the European Economic Community and the Member States, of the one part, and the Lebanese Republic, of the other part, signed at Brussels on OJ1974L195(24) 27 June 1974.
4. Convention setting up a European University Institute, signed at Florence on 19th April 1972(Cmnd. 5876).
This Order declares the treaties mentioned in the Schedule to be Community Treaties as defined in section 1(2) of the European Communities Act 1972.
