The Secretary of State for Social Services, in exercise of powers conferred by sections 96(4) and 101(2) of the Social Security Act 1973 and of all other powers enabling her in that behalf, hereby makes the following order:-
1.-(1) This order may be cited as the Social Security Act 1973 (Commencement No. 4) Order 1974 and shall come into operation on 7th June 1974.
(2) The rules for the construction of Acts of Parliament contained in the Interpretation Act 1889 shall apply to this instrument and the revocations effected by it as they would apply if this instrument and the instruments containing the provisions which it revokes were Acts of Parliament and each revocation were a repeal.
(3) In this order-
(a)"the Act" means
(b)"the No. 1 order" means
(c)"the No. 2 order" means
(d)"the No. 3 order" means
2.-(1) The provisions contained in the orders specified in article 1(3) above, in so far as they appoint 6th April 1975 as the day for the coming into operation of provisions of the Act relating to the recognition of pensionable employments and to the reserve pension scheme, shall cease to have effect and the following provisions of this article shall accordingly apply.
(2) In the No. 1 order the entries in the Schedule which relate to section 77 and section 78 of and Schedule 19 to the Act are hereby revoked.
(3) In the No. 2 order-
(a)in article 2 for paragraphs (a) and (b) there shall be substituted the words "of sections 51(3), (5), (7) and (10), 58(1) (except paragraph (c)) and (2), 59(1) and 63 of and Schedule 16 to the Social Security Act 1973";
(b)in article 3 for the words "in relation to those provisions" at the end of paragraph (2) there shall be substituted the words "in relation to such of those provisions as are specified in that article"; and
(c)Schedule 1 is hereby revoked.
(4) In the No. 3 order-
(a)in article 2(1) for the words "all the provisions of the Social Security Act 1973" there shall be substituted the words "all the provisions of Parts I and IV of the Social Security Act 1973 and the Schedules of those Parts"; and
(b)in Schedule 1-
(i)the entries relating to sections 66(6), 69(7) and 76 of the Act are hereby revoked;
(ii)before the entry relating to section 100(2) of the Act there shall be inserted the entries relating to sections 85 to 93 of and Schedule 23 to the Act contained in the Schedule to this order; and
(iii)after the entry relating to section 100(2) of the Act there shall be inserted the other entries contained in the Schedule to this order.

This Order revokes and amends provisions contained in previous Orders by which 6th April 1975 was appointed as the day for the coming into operation of certain processions of the Social Security Act 1973 relating to the recognition of pensionable employments and to the reserve pension scheme. It provides for those provisions not to come into operation on that day and does not appoint another day for that purpose.
