The Treasury, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 2 of the National Savings Bank Act 1971, as extended by section 3(2) of that Act, and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, hereby make the following Regulations:-
1. These Regulations may be cited as the National Savings Bank (Amendment) Regulations 1974, and shall come into operation on 1st May 1974.
2. The Interpretation Act 1889 shall apply for the interpretation of these Regulations as it applies for the interpretation of an Act of Parliament.
3. The National Savings Bank Regulations 1972(1) shall be amended, in Regulation 28, by the deletion of paragraphs (3) and (4) thereof.

These Regulations, which amend the National Savings Bank Regulations 1972, remove the requirement that a person making an investment deposit in the National Savings Bank shall have ordinary deposits of not less than £50 standing to his credit in the Bank.
