The Secretary of State for the Environment in exercise of the powers conferred by section 47 of the Transport (London) Act 1969, and now vested in him(1) and of all other enabling powers hereby makes the following Order:-
1. This Order may be cited as the Transport (London) Act 1969 (Commencement No. 5) Order 1974.

This Order brings into operation on the 1st April 1974 the provisions of the Transport (London) Act 1969 under which all principal roads in Greater London become metropolitan roads and under which metropolitan roads and proposed metropolitan roads can be divided into different categories for the purposes of the control of development affecting such roads or proposed roads.
