These Regulations further amend the Pensions Increase (Judicial Pensions) Regulations 1972, which modify the provisions of the Pensions (Increase) Act 1971 in their application to certain pensions payable in respect of service in judicial and other similar offices.
Paragraph 16 of the Schedule to the 1972 Regulations (as substituted by Schedule 2 to the Pensions Increase (Judicial Pensions) (Amendment) Regulations 1974) deals with pensions payable in respect of service as a county court registrar. The table in paragraph 16, which sets out the multiplier to be applied to the basic rate of the pension, contains no entry for pensions beginning after 1st August 1970 but not later than 1st January 1971, nor for pensions beginning after 1st January 1971 but not later than 1st January 1972. These Regulations insert the appropriate entries in the table.
Under the power conferred by section 5(4) of the 1971 Act, the Regulations provide for increases by virtue of the Regulations to take effect from 1st December 1973.
