Authorised by the Minister for the Civil Service
These Regulations amend the Increase of Pensions (Police and Fire Services) Regulations 1971 and have the effect as from 1st April 1972, the date from which certain changes take effect in the provisions governing police, special constabulary and police cadet pensions (retrospective effect is authorised by section 5(4) of the Pensions (Increase) Act 1971).
Pensions payable to policemen, special constables and police cadets who have retired or ceased to hold office on or after 1st April 1972 are excluded from the operation of Regulation 4 of the Regulations of 1971 (Regulation 3).
Injury pensions payable to such persons (which, by virtue of the changes referred to above, replace supplemental pensions) are brought within the operation of Regulation 5 of the Regulations of 1971 so far as it is applicable (Regulation 4).
