The Secretary of State in exercise of the powers conferred by section 140(3) of the Fair Trading Act 1973 hereby orders as follows:-
1. This Order may be cited as the Fair Trading Act 1973 (Commencement No. 1) Order 1973.
2. The provisions of the Fair Trading Act 1973 specified in the first column of the Schedule to this Order (which relate to the matters specified in the second column of that Schedule) shall come into operation on 14th September 1973.

This Order brings into force on 14th September 1973 those provisions of the Fair Trading Act 1973 (Part XI) which relate to Pyramid Selling and similar Trading Schemes. The other provisions specified in the schedule to this Order are general provisions which are also brought into force in so far as they relate to the application of Part XI.
