Her Majesty, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, and by virtue of the authority conferred upon Her by sections 1 and 2 of the Uniform Laws on International Sales Act 1967, is pleased to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:-
1.-(1) This Order may be cited as the Uniform Laws on International Sales Order 1972.
(2) This Order, except for Article 2(d), shall come into operation on 18th August 1972 and Article 2(d) shall come into operation on 23rd August 1972.
2. It is hereby declared that-
(a)
(b)a declaration under Article V of the First Convention (concerning the application of the Uniform Law on Sales only by choice of the parties) has been made by the United Kingdom and has not been withdrawn;
(c)the states specified in the Schedule to this Order, other than the Italian Republic, are Contracting States for the purposes of the First Convention in respect of the territories there specified in relation to them;
(d)the Italian Republic becomes a Contracting State for the purposes of the First Convention in respect of the territory specified in the Schedule in relation to it on 23rd August 1972.
3. It is hereby further declared that the date on which the Convention relating to a Uniform Law on the Formation of Contracts for the International Sale of Goods done at The Hague on 1st July 1964 comes into force in respect of the United Kingdom is 18th August 1972.

This Order takes account of the coming into force on 18th August 1972 of The Hague Conventions of 1964 relating respectively to a Uniform Law on the International Sale of Goods and a Uniform Law on the Formation of Contracts for the International Sale of Goods, which have been ratified by the United Kingdom.
By virtue of the Order the Uniform Law on Sales will apply to contracts made on or after that date. The Order states that a declaration has been made by the United Kingdom under Article V of the first mentioned Convention, so that the Uniform Law on Sales will apply to contracts only to the extent that the parties have chosen it as the law of the contract.
The Order also specifies, in the Schedule, the contracting states for the purposes of the first mentioned Convention and the territories in respect of which they have contracted.
