Whereas a draft of this Order has been laid before Parliament and has been approved by resolution of each House of Parliament;
Now, therefore, the Board of Trade, in pursuance of the powers conferred upon them by sub-sections (3) and (4) of section 9 and by section 11 of the Statistics of Trade Act 1947 and all other powers in that behalf enabling them, hereby make the following Order:-
1. No individual estimates or returns and no information relating to any particular undertaking obtained by means of the census of distribution and other services to be taken by the Board of Trade in the calendar year 1967 and no part of any such estimates, returns or information shall, without the previous consent in writing of the person carrying on the undertaking which is the subject of the estimates, returns or information, be disclosed except-
(a)for the purpose of taking the said census or for the purpose of preparing or providing, in relation to or in connection with that census, any survey, report, summary or other communication required by the said Act to be made or published; or
(b)for the purpose of any proceedings for an offence under the said Act or any reports of those proceedings.
2.-(1) The Interpretation Act 1889 shall apply to the interpretation of this Order in like manner as it applies to the interpretation of an Act of Parliament.
(2) This Order may be cited as the Census of Distribution (1967) (Restriction on Disclosure) Order 1965 and shall come into operation on 31st December 1965.

This Order imposes restrictions on the disclosure of information, relating to particular undertakings, obtained by means of the census of distribution and other services to be taken by the Board of Trade in the year 1967.
These restrictions are additional to those imposed by section 9 of the Statistics of Trade Act 1947, in that the disclosure of such information to other government departments is prohibited and disclosure may only be made for the purposes set out in paragraphs (a) and (b) of Article 1 of this Order.
