Whereas it appears to the Treasury expedient that the relief from import duties provided for by this Order should be allowed with a view to conforming with an international agreement made on 29th June 1964 relating to the immunities and privileges to be accorded to the European Organisation for the Development and Construction of Space Vehicle Launchers:
Now, therefore, the Lords Commissioners of Her Majesty's Treasury, by virtue of the powers conferred on them by section 5 of the Import Duties Act 1958, and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, on the recommendation of the Board of Trade hereby make the following Order:-
1. Import duty shall not be chargeable on any goods which appear to the Commissioners of Customs and Excise to be imported for the purposes of the exercise of the said Organisation's official activities.
2.-(1) This Order may be cited as the Import Duty Reliefs (No. 1) Order 1965.
(2) The Interpretation Act 1889, shall apply for the interpretation of this Order as it applies for the interpretation of an Act of Parliament.
(3) This Order shall come into operation on 8th September 1965.
