Summary
The application relates to a protective glass powder shaker used in glass art. Glass powder, if inhaled, is understood to be harmful therefore the invention attempts to prevent the glass powder becoming airborne in order to mitigate illness caused by inhalation by provision of an extended lower wall, a hinged lid and a holding rod. The examiner argued that there was no synergy between these three features and, as each feature was known, the invention was a mere juxtaposition relating to an obvious collocation. The hearing officer was able to identify synergy between the three features and was able to establish that the invention was non-obvious with respect to the prior art put before them. The application was remitted to the examiner to conclude the processing.
