Summary
The application relates to blockchain containing custom features such as controlling devices connected to the blockchain, which is usually achieved by using custom Opcodes and non-standard scripts. According to the application such custom Opcodes are prone to the introduction of bugs which means that there is a lack of support for these known techniques amongst users, such as bitcoin miners. The application addresses this by providing a new method of creating control data which can be used to cause a device connected to a blockchain to execute an activity.
On applying the Aerotel/Macrossan test and considering the AT&T signposts the Hearing Officer found that the claimed invention was excluded as a computer program as such. The application was refused under section 18(3).
