Summary
The application concerns a computer based project management system comprising three software sub-systems for use in civil engineering construction projects. The first sub-system receives data relating to individual tasks of the construction project, the second performs project scheduling, allowing an operator to view and modify the timing and inter-relationship of key events in the project, and the third provides a two- or three-dimensional graphical representation of the timing and relationships of those events. The hearing officer applied the four step test set out in the Aerotel and Macrossan judgment. The contribution to the art was considered to be in superimposing a grid on the graphical representation defining a plurality of cells corresponding to work locations and events in the construction project. The invention was found to be excluded from patentability as it relates solely to the presentation of information.
