Summary
The application relates to sea bed food producing habitats. Scrap iron or steel submerged underwater is alleged to release a new form of energy from the metal to enable a reaction between the water and carbon dioxide to produce carbohydrates, which can be used as foodstuff for aquatic life. Objection was raised that the application was incapable of industrial application, that the invention lacked novelty, and that its disclosure was neither clear nor complete enough for the invention to be repeated. The hearing officer held that the application would contravene the laws of physics since it effectively claimed the creation of energy from nothing. She also found the invention to lack novelty, and to have insufficient disclosure for the invention to be repeated by a person skilled in the art. She therefore refused the application for not having an industrial application, lacking novelty and insufficiency.
