Summary
The defendants sought a six week extension of the period to file counter-statements, later reduced to four weeks, but the claimant resisted any extension. The hearing officer found little merit in the grounds for the request, ie that it had been difficult for their parent company to locate relevant papers and personnel, but nevertheless allowed an extension of three weeks in view of a projected meeting of the parties to discuss settlement of the dispute.
