Judicial Appointments Commission
The complainant requested various information from the Judicial Appointments Commission (JAC), including information relating to the Qualified Person and outreach events conducted by the JAC. The JAC refused to provide some of the requested information, citing sections 42(1) (legal professional privilege) and 40(2) (personal information) of FOIA. The Commissioner has considered the JAC’s application of section 42(1) to the information withheld by virtue of that exemption. The Commissioner’s decision is that section 42(1) is engaged and that the public interest favours maintaining the exemption. The Commissioner requires no steps to be taken as a result of this decision.
