Cabinet Office
The complainant submitted a request to the Cabinet Office asking it to provide him with the records returned as a result of six electronic searches of its records which he had described. The Cabinet Office refused to comply with the request on the basis of section 12(1) (cost limit) of FOIA. The Commissioner has concluded that it was entitled to refuse to comply with the request on the basis of section 12(1) of FOIA. The Commissioner has also concluded that the Cabinet Office provided the complainant with a reasonable suggestion as to how it could refine his request in the particular circumstances of this case in order to fulfil its duty under section 16 (advice and assistance) of FOIA.
