The complainant has requested the details of a particular psychiatrist who is employed by the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman (PHSO) as a clinical adviser. The complaint to the Commissioner focussed on the complainant’s right of access to the name and General Medical Council (GMC) number of that psychiatrist. The PHSO refused to provide these details under section 40(2), the exemption relating to personal information. The Commissioner’s decision is that the PHSO is entitled to rely on section 40(2) to withhold this information. The Commissioner does not require the public authority to take any further action in this matter.
