Summary: The complainant made a request to the University of East Anglia (the University) for three items of information concerning tree ring research (dendrochronology). The University initially withheld all the information requested under regulation 6(1)(b) (information available to requester), regulation 12(4)(a) (information not held at time of request), regulation 12(4)(d) (material in course of completion) and regulation 12(5)(c) (intellectual property rights), but disclosed one of the items of information upon internal review. The University disclosed a further item of information to the complainant during the Commissioner-™s investigation, but maintained its reliance upon regulation 12(4)(d) and regulation 12(5)(c) with regard to the remaining item of information. The Commissioner considers that the University correctly applied regulation 12(4)(d) to the remaining information. Information Tribunal appeal number EA/2012/0156 dismissed.
