Summary: The complainant requested information from the Cabinet Office about the make and model of two products highlighted in a published review of Government spending. The Cabinet Office confirmed it held the requested information but refused to provide it on the basis that it was exempt from disclosure by virtue of section 43(2) (commercial interests) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000. The Commissioner has investigated and his decision is that section 43(2) did not apply. The Cabinet Office is therefore required to disclose the requested information. The Commissioner also concluded that the Cabinet Office beached procedural requirements of the Act.
