Summary: The complainant made a freedom of information request to the British Library for a full copy of the contract it entered into with the company BrightSolid for the digitisation of its Newspaper Archive. In response the British Library disclosed a redacted version of the contract with information withheld under the section 43 exemption (Commercial interests). The Commissioner has investigated the complaint and found that the British Library has correctly applied FOIA section 43 to the complainant-™s request and that the public interest in maintaining the exemption outweighs the public interest in disclosure. The Commissioner requires no steps to be taken.
