Summary: The complainant requested information from the British Broadcasting Corporation (the BBC) regarding details of the live cricket packages the English Cricket Board (ECB) had invited the BBC to bid for and he also requested the reasons why bidding was declined. The BBC refused to provide the information claiming that it was outside the scope of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the -Act-) because it was held for the purposes of journalism, art or literature. The Commissioner is satisfied that the information in question is held for the purpose of journalism, art or literature. Therefore the BBC was not required to comply with Parts I to V of the Act in relation to this request.
