Summary: The complainant requested information regarding the coverage of the -current- Gaza war, from its outset towards the end of December 2008 to the present by the main BBC news outlets. The BBC refused to provide the information claiming that it was outside the scope of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the -Act-) because it was held for the purposes of journalism, art or literature. It was stated that the information was used for creating the public authority-s output and was closely associated with creative activities. The Commissioner is satisfied that the information in question is held for the purposes of journalism, art or literature. Therefore the BBC was not required to comply with Parts I to V of the Act in relation to this request.
