Summary: The complainant asked the BBC for information relating to BBC Northern Ireland Children in Need Friday night broadcasts in 2005 and 2006 along with details of any BBC payments made to individual presenters. The BBC advised the complainant that his request was outside the scope of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the -Act-) on the basis that it was not a public authority in relation to this request because the information was held for the purpose of journalism, art or literature. The BBC refused to release details of payments made to individual presenters however, voluntarily released some information relating to the Children in Need broadcasts on BBC Northern Ireland television in 2005 and 2006. Having considered the purposes for which this information is held, the Commissioner has concluded that the BBC has no obligations to comply with Parts I to V in respect of the request in question.
