The Scottish Ministers make the following Order in exercise of the power conferred by section 72(4) of the Water (Scotland) Act 1980( 1) and all other powers enabling them to do so.
1. This Order may be cited as the Water Supply (Water Fittings) (Scotland) Byelaws Extension Order 2024 and comes into force on 10 May 2024.
2. The period during which the Water Supply (Water Fittings) (Scotland) Byelaws 2014( 2) are to remain in force is extended to 12 May 2029.

This Order extends the period during which the Water Supply (Water Fittings) (Scotland) Byelaws 2014 are to remain in force to 12 May 2029. 1980 c. 45. The functions of the Secretary of State were transferred to the Scottish Ministers by virtue of section 53 of the Scotland Act 1998 (c. 46).
The Water Supply (Water Fittings) (Scotland) Byelaws 2014 were made by Scottish Water on 13 May 2014 and came into operation on 12 July 2014. The functions of the water authority or water development board to make byelaws under sections 70 to 72 of the Water (Scotland) Act 1980 (c. 45)(“ the 1980 Act”) were transferred to newly established water authorities by section 62 of the Local Government etc. (Scotland) Act 1994 (c. 39)(“ the 1994 Act”), and subsequently transferred to Scottish Water by section 21 of the Water Industry (Scotland) Act 2002 (asp 3). Sections 70 to 72 of the 1980 Act were relevantly amended by paragraphs 37 to 39 of schedule 13 of the 1994 Act and by paragraphs 44 to 46 of schedule 6 of the Water Industry (Scotland) Act 2002.
