The Scottish Ministers make the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 9(6) of the Consumer Scotland Act 2020( 1) and all other powers enabling them to do so.
In accordance with section 9(7) and (8) of that Act, the Scottish Ministers have consulted such persons as they consider appropriate, including the designated regulators specified in these Regulations.
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Consumer Scotland (Designated Regulators) Regulations 2021 and come into force on 1 April 2022.
2. The following regulators are designated regulators for the purposes of section 9(6) of the Consumer Scotland Act 2020:—
(a) the Drinking Water Quality Regulator for Scotland, and
(b) the Water Industry Commission for Scotland.

These Regulations specify who is a “ designated regulator” for the purposes of section 9 of the Consumer Scotland Act 2020 (asp 11)(“ the Act”). Consumer Scotland may issue a notice requiring designated regulators to provide information to Consumer Scotland.
Regulation 2 specifies the Drinking Water Quality Regulator for Scotland and the Water Industry Commission for Scotland as designated regulators for the purposes of section 9 of the Act.
