The Scottish Ministers make the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by section 2(2) of the Limitation (Childhood Abuse) (Scotland) Act 2017(1).
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Limitation (Childhood Abuse) (Scotland) Act 2017 (Commencement) Regulations 2017 and come into force on 4th October 2017.
2. 4th October 2017 is the day appointed for the coming into force of section 1 of the Limitation (Childhood Abuse) (Scotland) Act 2017 (removal of 3 year limitation period in certain actions).

The Limitation (Childhood Abuse) (Scotland) Act 2017 received Royal Assent on 28th July 2017. Sections 2 and 3 came into force the following day.
Regulation 2 of these Regulations brings into force the remaining provision of that Act (section 1) on 4th October 2017. Section 1 makes amendments to the Prescription and Limitation (Scotland) Act 1973 (c.52) to remove the limitation period for actions of damages in respect of personal injuries resulting from childhood abuse.
