(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order modifies section 3 of the Police, Public Order and Criminal Justice (Scotland) Act 2006 (asp 10) which defines the police support services which the Scottish Police Services Authority ("the Authority") is under a duty to provide.
The Order provides that from 1st April 2008 the Authority will have a duty to provide a new police support service in respect of the development, provision, procurement, maintenance, management, support and oversight, as appropriate, of information and communications technology systems and equipment for police forces and such other persons or organisations as the Authority thinks fit. The Order also makes minor amendments to section 3 which are consequential on the provision of this new duty and substitutes a definition of "information and communications technology systems" for the existing definition of "information technology systems".
