The Prostitution (Public Places) (Scotland) Act 2007 (Commencement) Order 2007
The Scottish Ministers make the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by section 3 of the Prostitution (Public Places) (Scotland) Act 2007[

Citation
1.
This Order may be cited as the Prostitution (Public Places) (Scotland) Act 2007 (Commencement) Order 2007.
Appointed day
2.
15th October 2007 is the appointed day for the coming into force of sections 1 and 2 of the Prostitution (Public Places) (Scotland) Act 2007.

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order brings into force the Prostitution (Public Places) (Scotland) Act 2007 ("the Act") on 15th October 2007.
Section 1 of the Act creates new offences of:
• soliciting in a relevant place (essentially, a public place) for the purpose of obtaining the services of a person engaged in prostitution; and
• loitering in a relevant place where it can reasonably be inferred that the person loitering was doing so for the purpose of obtaining the services of a person engaged in prostitution.
Section 2 of the Act provides that offences under section 1 are arrestable offences.
