The Emergency Workers (Scotland) Act 2005 (Commencement) Order 2005
The Scottish Ministers, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 9(2) of the Emergency Workers (Scotland) Act 2005[
1] hereby make the following Order:
Citation
1.
This Order may be cited as the Emergency Workers (Scotland) Act 2005 (Commencement) Order 2005.
Commencement
2.
The day appointed for the coming into force of the Emergency Workers (Scotland) Act 2005 (except section 9) is 9th May 2005.

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order brings into force on 9th May 2005 all the provisions of the Emergency Workers (Scotland) Act 2005 except section 9 which relates to short title and commencement. Section 9 of the Act came into force on Royal Assent on 1st February 2005.
The Act creates new offences in relation to assaulting, obstructing or hindering someone who is providing emergency services, or someone who is assisting an emergency worker who is responding to emergency circumstances. The Act also creates similar offences in respect of health workers on hospital premises and persons assisting such workers.
