The Scottish Ministers, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 333(3) and (4) of the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) (Scotland) Act 2003[1], hereby make the following Order:
Citation 1.
This Order may be cited as the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) (Scotland) Act 2003 (Commencement No. 1) Order 2003.
Appointed day 2.
The day appointed for the coming into force of paragraph 10 of schedule 1 and, for that purpose, section 4(3) of the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) (Scotland) Act 2003 is 1st July 2003.

This Order brings into force paragraph 10 in Part 2 of schedule 1 to the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) (Scotland) Act 2003 ("the Act"). The Act received Royal Assent on 25th April 2003.
Part 2 of schedule 1 to the Act contains transitional provisions which amend sections 2 and 6 of the Mental Health (Scotland) Act 1984 (c.36). These amendments relate to the Mental Welfare Commission with new provision for the appointment of a chief officer to the Commission.
