The Scottish Ministers, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 4(1) and (2)(a) of the Cinemas Act 1985[1] and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, hereby make the following Regulations:
Citation and commencement
1.
These Regulations may be cited as the Cinematograph (Safety) (Scotland) Amendment Regulations 2003 and shall come into force on 1st April 2003.
Amendment of the Cinematograph (Safety) (Scotland) Regulations 1955
2.
In regulations 4(1) and (2), 26, 31(7)(a) and 38(1) of the Cinematograph (Safety) (Scotland) Regulations 1955[2], for "twenty-one" substitute "eighteen".

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Regulations)
These Regulations amend the Cinematograph (Safety) (Scotland) Regulations 1955 ("the 1955 Regulations") to lower the minimum age from twenty-one to eighteen of-
(a) a licensee or a person nominated by the licensee to be responsible for the premises at all times when the public are on the premises (regulation 4 and 38(1) of the 1955 Regulations),
(b) a person who is responsible for ensuring that electrical installations and equipment in the projection room are kept in good order (regulation 26 of the 1955 Regulations),
(c) a person in charge of and present in the projection room whenever inflammable film is being projected (regulation 31(7)(a) of the 1955 Regulations).
