The Scottish Ministers, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 7 of the Education (Disability Strategies and Pupils' Educational Records) (Scotland) Act 2002[1], hereby make the following Order: Citation 1. This Order may be cited as the Education (Disability Strategies and Pupils' Educational Records) (Scotland) Act 2002 (Commencement) Order 2002. Appointed day for the purposes of sections 1, 2 and 3 2. 15th August 2002 is the day appointed for the coming into force of section 1 (accessibility strategies), section 2 (accessibility strategies by education authorities providing school education outwith schools) and section 3 (procedure in preparing accessibility strategies) of the Education (Disability Strategies and Pupils' Educational Records) (Scotland) Act 2002. CATHY JAMIESON A member of the Scottish Executive Victoria Quay, Edinburgh 8th August 2002 EXPLANATORY NOTE (This note is not part of the Order) This Order brings into force on 15th August 2002 those provisions of the Education (Disability Strategies and Pupils' Educational Records Act 2002 ("the Act"), which did not come into force on Royal Assent, that is sections 1, 2 and 3 of the Act. These provisions relate to the requirement for bodies responsible for schools to prepare and implement accessibility strategies designed to improve access for pupils with disabilities to the curriculum and to the physical environment of the school, and to improve communication with and to those pupils.
