The Scottish Ministers, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 5(2) of the Education (Graduate Endowment and Student Support) (Scotland) Act 2001[1] and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, hereby make the following Order: Citation 1. This Order may be cited as the Education (Graduate Endowment and Student Support) (Scotland) Act 2001 (Commencement) Order 2001. Appointed day 2. 1st June 2001 is hereby appointed as the day on which section 4 of the Education (Graduate Endowment and Student Support) (Scotland) Act 2001 shall come into force. ANGUS MACLAY A member of the Scottish Executive St Andrew's House, Edinburgh 23rd May 2001 EXPLANATORY NOTE (This note is not part of the Order) This Order brings into force on 1st June 2001 those provisions of the Education (Graduate Endowment and Student Support) (Scotland) Act 2001 (asp 6) ("the Act") which are not already in force. The Order brings into force section 4 of the Act which provides for the amendment of sections 75 and 77 of the Local Government Finance Act 1992 (c.14) to exempt students from liability to pay the council tax.
