      CONTAMINATION OF FOOD

      The Food Protection (Emergency Prohibitions) (Amnesic ShellfishPoisoning) (West Coast) (No. 2) (Scotland) Partial Revocation (No. 5) Order2000

        Made 29th November 2000 
        Laid before the Scottish Parliament 4th December 2000 
        Coming into force in accordance with article 1

      The Scottish Ministers, in exercise of the powers conferred by section1(1) and (2) and section 24(3) of the Food and Environment Protection Act1985[1], and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf,hereby make the following Order:

      Citation and commencement
           1. This Order may be cited as the Food Protection (Emergency Prohibitions)(Amnesic Shellfish Poisoning) (West Coast) (No. 2) (Scotland) PartialRevocation (No. 5) Order 2000 and shall come into force at 1730 hours on 29th November 2000.

      Interpretation
          
      2. In this Order "the principal Order" means the Food Protection(Emergency Prohibitions) (Amnesic Shellfish Poisoning) (West Coast) (No. 2)(Scotland) Order 2000[2].

      Partial Revocation of the principal Order
           3. The principal Order is revoked insofar as it designates-

        (a) any part of Areas A, B, C, D and E described in the Schedule to thisOrder being areas within Area 1 described in the Schedule to the principal Order; and

        (b) any part of Area 2 described in the Schedule to the principal Order.

      Article 3

      Area A

      The area of sea below high water springs enclosed by a line starting from a point at Srianach on Lewis at 58°North latitude 6°23'West longitude; then south along the shore of Lewis to a point at 57°56.4'North latitude 6°30'West longitude; then south to 57°45'North latitude 6°30'West longitude; then east to 57°45'North longitude 6°West longitude; then north to58°North latitude 6°West longitude; then west to the point of beginning.

      Area B

      The area of sea below high water springs enclosed by a line starting from a point at 57°45'North latitude 6°West longitude; then east to a point on the mainland shore at 57°45'North latitude 5°48.7'West longitude; then south along the mainland shore to apoint at 57°30'North latitude 5°52'West longitude; then west to the east coast of Raasay to a point at 57°30'North latitude5°59'West longitude; then north, west and south along the shore toa point on the west coast of Raasay at 57°30'North latitude 5°59.5'West longitude; then west to 57°30'North latitude 6°West longitude; then north to the point of beginning.

      Area C

      The area of sea below high water springs enclosed by a line starting from a point at 57°15'North latitude 7°West longitude; then north to 57°30'North latitude 7°West longitude; then east to the west coast of Skye to a point at 57°30'North latitude 6°44.8'West longitude; then south along the shore of Skye to 57°23.2'North latitude 6°30'West longitude; then south tothe north coast of Wiay to a point at 57°20.6'North latitude 6°30'West longitude; then west and south along the shore to a pointon the south coast of Wiay at 57°20'North latitude 6°30'West longitude; then south to 57°15'North latitude6°30'West longitude; then west to the point of beginning.

      Area D

      The area of sea below high water springs enclosed by a line startingfrom a point at 57°30'North latitude 6°42'West longitude;then south, east and north along the shore [of Skye] to57°30'North latitude 6°38.6'West longitude; then west to the point of beginning.

      Area E

      The area of sea below high water springs enclosed by a line starting from a point at 56°45'North latitude 6°30'West longitude;then east to Sanna on the Scottish mainland at 56°45'North latitude6°11.3'West longitude; then east and south along the mainland shore to a point at 56°42'North latitude 6°West longitude; then south to Auliston Point at 56°39'North latitude 6°West longitude; then south along the shore to a point at 56°37.4'North latitude6°West longitude; then south to the north coast of Mull to a point at56°35'North latitude 6°West longitude; then west, south and east along the shore of Mull to a point at 56°30'North latitude6°09'West longitude; then north to a point on the east coast of Coll at 56°37.4'North latitude 6°30'West longitude; then north and west along the shore of Coll to a point at 56°41.2'Northlatitude 6°30'West longitude; then north to the point of beginning.

      EXPLANATORY NOTE

      (This note is not part of the Order)

      This Order is the fifth partial revocation of the Food Protection (Emergency Prohibitions) (Amnesic Shellfish Poisoning) (West Coast) (No. 2)(Scotland) Order 2000 (S.S.I. 2000/291) ("the principal Order") which prohibited-

        (a) fishing for or taking scallops within the areas designated in theSchedule to that Order (article 4 of the principal Order);

        (b) movement of such scallops out of these areas (article 5 of the principal Order); and

        (c) landing, using in the preparation or processing for supply of food of,supplying and other specified activities in relation to, such scallops fromthe designated areas (article 6 of the principal Order).

      The effect of this Order is to remove the prohibitions in respect of the areas of sea designated in the Schedule to this Order, which form partof the area of sea designated as Area 1 in the Schedule to the principal Order, and to remove the prohibitions in respect of the area of seadesignated as Area 2 in the Schedule to the principal Order.
