In an action pursued at the Earl of Haddington's instance against Gideon Jackson, who was the chamberlain and bailie of Melrose, for the sasine-ox, and for the customs of the fairs of Melrose, the Lords found, That the sasine ox was due to the bailie, and that he was not accountable for the same to the lord of the regality, but found him liable to count for the customs of the fairs.
