The Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Section 14(2) of the Retained EU Law (Revocation and Reform) Act 2023 (“ 2023 Act”)( 1).
The Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs is a relevant national authority for the purposes of section 14(2) of the 2023 Act( 2).
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Quality of Bathing Water (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2025 and shall come into operation on 31stMay 2025.
2. The Interpretation Act (Northern Ireland) 1954( 3) applies to these Regulations as it applies to an Act of the Assembly.
3. For Schedule 1 substitute—

(This note is not part of the Regulations)
These Regulations replace Schedule 1 of the Quality of Bathing Water Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2008, to add Brompton Bay, Cushendall, Drain’s Bay, Donaghadee, Portmuck, Rea’s Wood (Inland) and Warrenpoint to the list of identified bathing waters in Regulations.
The term “relevant national authority” is defined in section 21(1) of the Retained EU Law (Revocation and Reform) Act 2023
