1. These Rules may be cited as the Mental Health Review Tribunal (Amendment) Rules (Northern Ireland) 2016 and shall come into operation on 10th March 2016.
2. Rule 26(2) of the Mental Health Review Tribunal (Northern Ireland) Rules 1986(3) shall be amended as follows-
(1) after "circumstances of the case" insert "where in the interests of justice";
(2) omit ",with the exception of the periods of notice specified in rule 16(4), rule 20 and rule 25(2),".

These Rules amend the Mental Health Review Tribunal (Northern Ireland) Rules 1986 (S.R. 1986 No. 193) so as to allow the Tribunal to extend or abridge the time appointed by the Rules for doing any act where in the interests of justice to do so.
