EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Regulations)
These Regulations amend the Working Time Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1998 which implement Council Directive 2003/88/EC concerning aspects of the organisation of working time (O.J. No. L299, 18.11.2003, p.9). They confirm for the avoidance of doubt that the definition of offshore work includes work performed in the Northern Irish sector of the Continental Shelf as well as that performed within the territorial waters of the United Kingdom adjacent to Northern Ireland.
