LOCAL GOVERNMENT
The Local Government (2005 Order) (Commencement No. 2 and Savings) Order (Northern Ireland) 2006
The Department of the Environment makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by Article 1(2) and (3) of the Local Government (Northern Ireland) Order 2005[
1].
Citation and interpretation
1.
—(1) This Order may be cited as the Local Government (2005 Order) (Commencement No. 2 and Savings) Order (Northern Ireland) 2006.
(2) In this Order "the 2005 Order" means the Local Government (Northern Ireland) Order 2005.
Appointed day
2.
The day appointed for the coming into operation of the provisions of the 2005 Order specified in the Schedule shall be 1st April 2006.
Savings
3.
Articles 3(1), 6 and 9 to 24 shall not have effect in relation to the audit of accounts of local government bodies for financial years beginning before the 1st April 2006.
4.
The amendments made by Article 28 of, and the repeals in Schedule 1 to, the 2005 Order shall not have effect in relation to the accounts of local government bodies for financial years beginning before the 1st April 2006.

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Regulations)
This Order brings into operation on 1st April 2006 the provisions of the Local Government (Northern Ireland) Order 2005 (the 2005 Order) listed in the Schedule.
Articles 3 and 4 make savings for the accounts of local government bodies for financial years beginning before the 1st April 2006.
NOTE AS TO EARLIER COMMENCEMENT ORDERS

The following provisions of the 2005 Order have been brought into operation by a Commencement Order made before the date of this Order.
