The Lord Chancellor, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 127A of the County Courts Act (Northern Ireland) 1959[
1], section 9A of the Resident Magistrates' Pensions Act (Northern Ireland) 1960[
2] and section 11A of the Judicial Pensions Act (Northern Ireland) 1951[
3], and with the consent of the Treasury, makes the following Regulations:
Citation and commencement
1.
These Regulations may be cited as the Judicial Pensions (Additional Voluntary Contributions) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2006 and come into operation on 6th April 2006.
Amendments to the Judicial Pensions (Additional Voluntary Contributions) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1995[4]
2.
Part 3 (Free-Standing Additional Voluntary Contribution Schemes) is revoked.
3.
Part 4 (Judicial Added Benefits Scheme) is revoked.

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Order)
These Regulations amend the Judicial Pensions (Additional Voluntary Contributions) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1995 (‘the 1995 Regulations' ). They provide for—
(a) the repeal of Part 3 of the 1995 Regulations. Part 3 made provision for free standing additional voluntary contributions schemes which is no longer necessary, and
(b) the abolition of the additional voluntary contributions scheme set out in Part 4 of the 1995 Regulations.
