The Department of Finance and Personnel in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Article 3(4) and (7) of the Superannuation (Northern Ireland) Order 1972[
1] and now vested in it[
2] and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:
Citation and commencement
1.
This Order may be cited as the Superannuation (Civilian Direct Recruits to the Police Service of Northern Ireland) Order (Northern Ireland) 2004 and shall come into operation on 8th March 2004.
Addition to list of employments
2.
There shall be added to the employments listed in Schedule 1 to the Superannuation (Northern Ireland) Order 1972 with effect from 30th September 2002 employment by the Police Service of Northern Ireland as a civilian direct recruit.

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Order.)
This Order adds employment by the Police Service of Northern Ireland as a civilian direct recruit to the employments listed in Schedule 1 to the Superannuation (Northern Ireland) Order 1972 for which the Department of Finance and Personnel may make pension schemes. It has retrospective effect by virtue of Article 3(7) of that Order.
