ROAD TRAFFIC AND VEHICLES

Motor Vehicle Testing (Amendment) (Fees) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2001

  Made 21st June 2001 
  Coming into operation 1st August 2001 

The Department of the Environment, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Articles 61(6), 62, 75(8), 81(8) and (9) and 110(2) of the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 1995[1] and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations:

Citation and commencement
     1. These Regulations may be cited as the Motor Vehicle Testing (Amendment) (Fees) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2001 and shall come into operation on 1st August 2001.

Amendment of the Motor Vehicle Testing Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1995
    
2. In the Motor Vehicle Testing Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1995[2] for Schedule 1 there shall be substituted - 



    " SCHEDULE 1
    Regulations 7(2), 10(3), (4) and (5), 15(1), 17(2) and 21


    Fees


        
    1. Fee payable for examination under regulation 7(2) or 10(3) or 15(1)

    (a) Vehicle in Class I or II


    £12·00
    (b) Vehicle in Class III or IV


    £18·50
    (c) Vehicle in Class V


    £24·00
    (d) Vehicle in Class VA - 

        
    (i) with 13 to 16 seats exclusive of driver


    £34·00
    (ii) with 17 to 35 seats exclusive of driver

    (iii) with more than 35 seats exclusive of driver

    (e) Vehicle in Class VI

    2. Fee payable for re-examination under regulation 10(4)

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)


These Regulations amend the Motor Vehicle Testing Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1995 by increasing the fees payable for most examinations, tests and inspections as follows - 

    (a) for examinations, re-examinations and appeals for all classes of vehicles under regulation 7(2), 10(3), and 15(1) the fee payable has increased by £1·50;

    (b) for a re-examination made within 21 days of the issue of the notice of refusal under regulations 10(4) the fee for all classes of motor vehicles has increased by £1·00; and

    (c) for a re-examination under regulation 10(5) the fee payable has increased by £1·00.

The fee payable for a full examination under Article 81 of the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 1995 ("the Order") has increased by £1·50.

The fee payable for a test under Article 75(5) of the Order or a partial inspection under Article 81 of the Order for all classes of vehicles has increased by £1·00.

The fee payable for a duplicate certificate for any class of vehicle has increased by £1·00.
