STREET TRADING (REGULATION) ACT (NORTHERN IRELAND) 1929 - SECT 1



1.(1) On and after the first day of January, nineteen hundred and thirty, it
shall not be lawful for any person to sell, or expose or offer for sale, any
article or thing from or upon any vehicle, barrow, cart, stall, or other
receptacle occupying a stationary position at a place in the carriage-way or
footway of any street in [a district] without a licence from the council ...
of the district ... authorising such person so to do:

Provided that this section shall not apply to any person who, while moving his
vehicle, barrow, cart, stall, or other receptacle from place to place in the
district in pursuit of and while conducting his trade, sells or exposes or
offers for sale therefrom or thereon any article or thing, and a stoppage by
such person for the purpose of the delivery of such article or thing shall not
be deemed to be an offence against this section.

(2) The provisions of this Act shall apply to a person selling, exposing, or
offering articles or things for sale from or upon a place in the carriageway
or footway of any such street as aforesaid, as if the sale, exposure or offer
for sale took place from or upon a vehicle, barrow, cart, stall or other
receptacle.

(3) For the purposes of this Act, the expression "street" includes any public
place, square, or bridge...
