Forgery of passport. 27.(1) If any person forges a passport or makes a statement which is to his knowledge untrue for the purpose of procuring a passport whether for himself or any other person he shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable (a)on summary conviction, to imprisonment for any term not exceeding six months or to a fine not exceeding fifty pounds or to both such imprisonment and fine; (b)on conviction on indictment, to imprisonment for any term not exceeding two years or to a fine not exceeding one hundred pounds or to both such imprisonment and fine. (2) In this section the expression "forges" has the same meaning as in the Forgery Act, 1913.
