17.(1) Any person who, in furnishing any information for any of the purposes of this Act or rules or regulations made thereunder, makes any statement which, to his knowledge, is false in a material particular, shall be liable, on conviction on indictment, to imprisonment for a term not exceeding two years or to a fine not exceeding two hundred pounds or to both such imprisonment and such fine or, on summary conviction, to imprisonment for a term not exceeding three months or to a fine not exceeding one hundred pounds or to both such imprisonment and such fine. (2) Where any offence under this Act committed by a corporation is proved to have been committed with the consent or connivance of any director, manager, secretary or other officer of the corporation, he, as well as the corporation, shall be deemed to be guilty of that offence and shall be liable to be proceeded against and punished accordingly. (3) Any proceedings which, by virtue of this Act, may be taken against a person under the Summary Jurisdiction Acts (Northern Ireland) may be taken before the court having jurisdiction in the place where that person is for the time being.
